Stalling
by Samantha
Q:
What constitutes "stalling" by an opponent?A: Samantha, A very good question as the rules of tennis were written to provide for continuous play with few breaks allowed. Players who take a unreasonible amount of time between 1st or 2nd serves, Players who blast a known out first serve back so to cause the server to retrieve the ball, lenghtly disscussion about calls, these are just a few examples that can be seen as stalling. You can read more about the Continuous Play Rules in a copy of "Friend At Court" published by the USTA.
