Hitting a ball on the other Side of the Net
by Cheryl

Q: Can you ever reach over the the net to hit the ball. I know you cannot ever touch the net. If while playing a game there is a lot of backspin on the ball and it bounces on my side, then before I can get to it, it spins back to the other side of the net. Can I reach over the net to hit the ball.

A: Yes Cheryl you can reach over the net to strike a ball that has bounced on your side of the net in play and than due to backspin or wind crosses back over the net. But you must be careful not to come into contact with the net or the opponent's side of the court with any part of your body, clothing, or racket. Brian
