ASK THE NUTRITIONIST
I'm fading fast...
by Trudy
Q: Many times after splitting 2 sets i feel my body fading. What can I do to get back on track? should I eat something special before the match?
A: Trudy,
I would need more information to really be able to understand the root cause of your fatigue. It does sound like a potential blood sugar balancing issue. It is important before playing that you have some balanced carbs, protein, and fat to sustain your energy and blood sugar. I would also recommend making sure you are hydrated with water before, during, and after the match. After playing it is recommended to eat protein and some complex carbohydrates to restore nutrients to the muscles. Your energy is all based on nutrient and it is possible you have some nutrient deficiencies. I'd be happy to talk to you further to understand the scope of your diet and exercise routine.
