Arthritis
by Brian

Q: Hi: Are there any vitamins that I can take for arthritis?

A: Dear Brian, As you may know Arthritis is an inflammatory condition. So, let look at some common anti-inflammatory supplements. Fish Oil also known as Omega 3s has a essential fatty acid known as EPA is a powerful agent against inflammation. It is sometimes called the Aspirin without the side effects. Must be taken in large doses around 8 grams/day. I recommend a brand that is low heavy metals and PCBs and high in EPA (400mg per capsule). Systemic Enzymes - Our enzymes activity peaks at age 27 yet we all have 3000 enzymes in our body involved in 7000 different reactions. Thats 10,000 reactions per second. As we age, we gradually lose our ability to naturally combant inflammation. Supplementing high dose of systemic enzymes will be key in reducing inflammation. Dose will vary with brand. Magnesium is also another powerful catalyst in healing and reducing inflammation. You will need about 4 grams per day. I would recommend all three for maximum affect. However, there are many more but at least you have somewhere to start. Best of Health, Robert Karlsson
